Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most
We collected the questions that reach us by phone, e-mail and Instagram. If your answer is not here, call us. We will explain anything.
Booking and cancellation
How do I book a massage?
The fastest route is the online booking form on this site. Pick the treatment, the length and a slot, and you see genuine live availability rather than sending a request. You can also call +420 774 505 613 or message us on WhatsApp, any day between 10:00 and 20:00. Every booking is confirmed by e-mail or text, along with the details for the reservation deposit.
Why is there a 500 CZK reservation deposit?
The 500 CZK deposit holds your slot and is deducted from the price of the treatment, so it is never an extra charge. We introduced it because of no-shows: an unused slot means a therapist waits an hour for nothing while someone else could not get an appointment. Cancel more than 48 hours ahead and the deposit is returned to your account in full.
What is your cancellation policy?
Free of charge up to 48 hours before the appointment. Call us, send a WhatsApp message, or simply reply to your confirmation e-mail. Cancel before that point and we either refund the deposit or move it to your new date, whichever you prefer. Cancel later than 48 hours, or fail to arrive, and the 500 CZK deposit is forfeited.
How far in advance should I book?
Our calendar is open 60 days ahead, and the latest you can book online is 3 hours before the treatment starts. Weekday evenings and weekends are the slots everyone wants, so plan one to two weeks in advance. If you want something today, call us instead: slots free up during the day and we can often fit you in.
Can I just walk in without an appointment?
You are welcome to try, but we cannot promise anything: we have three treatment rooms and at busy times all three are in use. Call +420 774 505 613 before you set off and we will tell you within a minute whether anything is free. Walk-ins pay at reception after the treatment; no deposit is involved.
How does a couples massage work, and are we in the same room?
Yes. A couples massage takes place in a single room, on two tables side by side, with two therapists working at the same time. That is harder to schedule than a standard treatment, because a room and two therapists have to be free at once, so book roughly a week ahead and earlier still for weekends. We offer it as a 60-minute and a 90-minute treatment.
Your first visit
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive about 10 minutes before your appointment. That leaves time to change, have a cup of tea and tell your therapist what to focus on and what to avoid. Treatments start at the booked time, so if you arrive late we shorten the session rather than keep the next guest waiting.
What should I bring with me?
Essentially nothing: towels, linen, disposable underwear and slippers are all provided. Just bring your benefit card or gift voucher if you intend to pay with one. Do tell us in advance about any medication, a recent injury or surgery, so the therapist can adapt the treatment. Your belongings stay with you in the treatment room throughout.
Do I have to undress completely?
No. For oil treatments you undress to your underwear, or use the disposable set we hand you. The therapist uncovers only the area being worked on and keeps the rest draped throughout. For a head, neck or Head Spa treatment you stay fully dressed. If anything feels uncomfortable, say so at any point and we will adjust.
Should I eat before a massage?
A light meal about two hours beforehand is ideal. A full stomach makes abdominal work and lymphatic drainage uncomfortable, but arriving hungry is no better, because you can end up light-headed. Skip alcohol before your appointment and go easy on the coffee. Water is the exception: drink normally, before and after.
What should I do after the massage?
Take the rest of the day at an easier pace and drink plenty of water. That matters most after lymphatic drainage. Skip alcohol, the sauna and hard training that day. After deeper back work the muscles can feel tender the next morning, much like after a workout; it settles within a day or two.
Is tipping expected?
Tipping is not expected and our prices are final. Nobody will think twice if you skip it. If you were happy and want to thank your therapist, 50 to 100 CZK in cash is the usual gesture in Prague. What helps us far more is a Google review or a recommendation to a friend.
Do your therapists speak English?
Yes. The team speaks English, Czech, Russian and Ukrainian, so you can ask for firmer or lighter pressure and flag anything you would rather we left alone. The whole site, the booking flow and your confirmation e-mail are available in English, which matters at Anděl: a good half of our guests are not Czech.
Employee benefit cards
Do you accept employee benefit cards?
Yes. We accept Benefit Plus, Sodexo, Pluxee and Benefity.cz, with no co-payment of any kind. We add no surcharge for paying with a benefit card, so you pay exactly the listed price. They work for single treatments and for multi-session packages alike.
How does paying by benefit card work with the deposit?
You pay with the benefit card at reception, after the treatment. The 500 CZK reservation deposit is paid in advance by transfer or card and is deducted from the final price, so the benefit card covers the remainder. Please tell us which card you plan to use when you book; if your employer's scheme has its own rules, call us and we will work around them.
Gift vouchers
How long is a gift voucher valid?
A voucher is normally valid for 12 months from the date of issue, and the exact expiry date is printed on it. To redeem it, quote the code when you book and we take care of the rest. If it has only just expired, get in touch. We try to be reasonable about it, though we cannot promise anything.
Is a gift voucher transferable or refundable?
The voucher carries the recipient's name, but we are happy to change it. Just call or write before the appointment is booked. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash. If the treatment chosen costs less than the voucher's value, the difference is not refunded; if it costs more, you simply pay the difference at the salon.
What can I buy a voucher for, and how is it delivered?
You can buy a voucher for a specific treatment, say a 90-minute Head Spa Deluxe, or for an open amount the recipient spends however they like. The open amount is the safer choice when you are not sure what they would pick. We send it as a print-ready PDF by e-mail, or you can collect a printed card at the salon. Order online or by phone.
The salon, directions and health
Where are you and how do I get there from Anděl metro?
We are at Na Bělidle 63/1, Prague 5 – Smíchov, at street level, roughly 200 metres from Anděl metro station (line B). Leave the station towards Nádražní street and it is a three-minute walk. Na Bělidle branches off it. Anděl is also a major tram and bus interchange, and Nový Smíchov shopping centre is two minutes away.
Where can I park nearby?
All of Smíchov is a paid-parking zone, so the blue bays are reserved for residents. The simplest option is the underground car park at the Nový Smíchov shopping centre (Plzeňská 8), about five minutes' walk away. There are also purple visitor bays in the surrounding streets, paid through the Prague parking app. Most guests come by metro. Anděl really is around the corner.
What are your opening hours?
We are open every day, weekends and public holidays included, from 10:00 to 20:00. The last treatment has to finish by closing time, so the latest start for a 90-minute session is 18:30. The phone and WhatsApp are answered during the same hours.
Can I have a massage while pregnant, and from when?
We take pregnancy bookings from the start of the second trimester, roughly week 14, and always after you have checked with your obstetrician. We do not massage during the first trimester. You lie on your side supported by cushions, never face down, and the therapist avoids the lower back and certain points around the ankles. If your pregnancy is high-risk, or you have bleeding or a fever, postpone the treatment.
When should I not come for a massage?
Postpone if you have a fever, an acute infection or inflammation, a fresh injury, broken or inflamed skin, or a history of thrombosis. After surgery, and with cancer, vein problems or untreated high blood pressure, ask your doctor first and mention it in the notes when you book. We are a wellness salon, not a medical facility: our treatments are for relaxation and recovery, not therapy.
How often should I get a massage?
For general well-being, once every three to four weeks is plenty. If you are working on something specific, such as a stiff neck from desk work, swollen legs or cellulite, a course of five to ten sessions once or twice a week works far better, followed by a maintenance rhythm. With body-shaping and apparatus treatments the first visible change usually appears after the fifth or sixth session, which is why they are sold as packages.
