Children's massage and scoliosis therapy Prague 5 – Anděl

Children's backs carry a different load than they did twenty years ago: hours at a desk, a heavy bag on one shoulder, a phone held low, and a growth period in which the skeleton changes faster than the muscles holding it. Children's massage at Massage DeLuxe is therefore run as posture care, not as a scaled-down adult massage.

How we work with children

Sessions are led by a specialist certified for working with children and for scoliosis therapy. The approach is always gentler and shorter than with adults, because young tissue responds faster. We work the muscles running alongside the spine, the shoulders and the pelvis, look for differences between the left and right side, and teach the child to notice when they are sitting crooked. A parent stays in the room throughout.

When it makes sense

• With diagnosed scoliosis, alongside whatever a doctor or physiotherapist has prescribed.
• When you notice one shoulder sitting higher than the other.
• For back and neck pain in teenagers who spend hours at a screen.
• For children training intensively in a one-sided sport: tennis, football, hockey.

What it does not replace

We would rather be straight with you: massage does not cure scoliosis and it is not a substitute for proper physiotherapy or orthopaedic care. What it can do is release the overloaded muscles on one side, reduce pain and support the exercises a specialist has already given. If your child has no diagnosis yet and you have a suspicion, the first stop should be a paediatrician or orthopaedist, and we will tell you so plainly.

Frequently asked questions

From what age do you offer it? Generally from six, when a child can describe what they feel. For younger children we assess individually and are more likely to suggest a paediatric consultation first.

Do I have to stay in the room? Yes, throughout. For under-18s a parent's presence is a condition rather than an option, and the parent also receives the summary and recommendations at the end.

Does massage replace physiotherapy? It does not. It complements it: releasing overloaded muscles and easing pain. The exercise plan and the diagnosis, though, belong to a physiotherapist or orthopaedist.
