Cellulite is not a disease and it is not a question of willpower. It is simply how subcutaneous connective tissue is arranged in most women, which is exactly why creams that sink into the top layer of skin do nothing about it. What does work is deeper: mechanically mobilising the tissue, improving blood flow and supporting lymphatic drainage. That is what an anti-cellulite massage does.
Your therapist combines deep kneading, skin rolling, pressure work and quick rhythmic strokes over the problem areas: usually thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen. The aim is to release the stiffened fibrous septa that pull the skin downward and create the familiar dimpling, and at the same time to improve microcirculation in the layer where water and waste sit. It is an intensive treatment; mild redness afterwards is normal and means circulation has increased.
Drink more than feels natural. The tissue we have just mobilised needs to flush what has been released. Walk, ideally every day. And stay with it: a thigh measurement does not change in a week, but it does change over two months of consistent care. At your first visit your therapist will estimate how many sessions your case is likely to need, and she will not promise more than is realistic.

How many sessions do I need? Usually five to ten, once or twice a week. A difference is often visible after five, but a lasting result takes the full cycle plus some movement.
Will it hurt, and will I bruise? It is intensive and redness is normal. Bruising should not happen. If you bruise easily or take blood thinners, say so and we will reduce the pressure.
Does it work if I do not exercise? Less well. The massage mobilises the tissue and supports lymphatic flow, but without movement and water the result holds for a shorter time. A daily walk is enough.
